MOORHEAD, Minn. - Junior
Laura Tvrdik completed 14 of her attacks for kills on Friday night as she led the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons to a 3-1 win over the Winona State Warriors (25-16, 25-20, 14-25, 25-23).
MSUM moved to 17-8 overall, matching the team's win total from last season, with eight regular season left in 2009. The Dragons are currently sitting in sixth place in the NSIC with a 7-5 record. WSU moves to 4-9 in league play with a 6-18 overall record.
Tvrdik hit .346 in the match to lead the team with 14 kills. She also had five assists, two blocks and two digs.
Ashley Pyfferoen trailed Tvrdik by two kills, with 12 she also had nine digs and a block assists.
Heidi Lensing had 11 kills in the match.
The Dragons' middle hitters, Marry Sussenguth and
Kristen Kleven each pitched in with eight kills, while Sussenguth had four blocks and Kleven picked up two.
Katy Ness had 33 digs in the match to lead the team.
The Red and White will host their second annual
