Dragons Suffer Loss to Wolves

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons volleyball team suffered a loss Friday night to the Northern State Wolves, as they split the regular season matches against the conference opponent (25-20, 20-25, 21-25, 20-25).

The two teams last met on Oct. 13 when the Dragons took the match in three sets at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse. MSUM moves to 18-9 overall and 8-6 in the NSIC while NSU moves to 10-14 overall and picked up their fifth win in league play.

The Dragons were out powered by the Wolves hitting, as they has a .220 to .167 advantage on attack percentage and dug up 83 of MSUM's attacks. The Dragons dug up 74 but allowed 56 kills to NSU. In every major stat category the Wolves barely edged the Dragons to make the difference the match.

NSU's Kayla Ysteboe led the field with 18 kills hitting .410 in the match. The Wolve's Jordan Schaffer had 14 kills.

The Dragons were led by junior Laura Tvrdik and freshman Heidi Lensing who both had 12 kills in the game. Katy Ness led the Dragons back-row defense with 26 digs also putting up two assists.

MSUM will continue conference play at Mary on Sat., Oct. 31. The match will begin at 4 p.m.
