TITUSVILLE, Fla. - Three softballs left the Chain of lakes Park field on Tuesday in favor of Minnesota State University Moorhead as the long balls helped carried the Dragons to a 15-8 victory over Greenville College (Ind.).
The Dragons moved their record to 5-4 overall after the third day of the Cocoa Beach Classic, having a 4-1 tally in the tournament.
MSUM went up 6-0 in the first inning and didn't look back as they continued to pile on the runs. In the first, after capitalizing on early walks and hit by pitches,
Amanda Moore hit her first home run of the season, knocking in two runs to go up 6-0.
Mara Litzer led off the third inning with a solo home run over the right field fence. It was the first home run of her career.
Four more runs were tallied to put the Dragons up 11-0 heading into the bottom of the third. Theruns were scored by Samantha Adolph, Moore,
Jessica Hollis and
Katie Howland.
The Panthers began to chip their way back into the game as they capitalized on a Dragon error to score four runs in the bottom half of the third inning. All four runs were unearned.
Steeli Norton picked up a one-out double in the fifth inning and would go on to score on a fielder's choice by
Coley Thompson.
GC cut the lead to six in the fifth inning, as they picked up two more unearned runs.
The Dragons tallied one more run in the seventh on the third long ball of the game, this one hit by Amanda Hoefer over the left field fence. It was her first home run of the season.

MSU Moorhead will face Huntington University and Minnesota Crookston on Wednesday at 9 and 11 a.m. (EST), respectively.
