Bredy Earns NSIC Athlete of the Week After Opening Meet

BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Derek Bredy, a multi-event athlete for Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field team, has been honored as the NSIC Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 3.

Bredy won the 100m dash at the Lyle Hokanson Memorial Track Meet hosted by North Dakota State University on March 31. He ran the race in 10.65 seconds, missing the NCAA Provisional Mark by five hundredths of a second.

During the 2010-11 outdoor season with the Dragons, Bredy was named both the NSIC Conference Track Athlete of the Year and the Regional Track Athlete of the Year. At the Division II National Championships he placed seventh in the 4x100, 13th in the 100m dash and 10th in the 200m dash.

The entire Dragon team will continue competition the weekend of April 13-14 at the St. Thomas Invite in St. Paul, Minn., and the St. Olaf Invite in North Field, Minn.
