Live Video (both matches)MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team concludes the regular season this week with a pair of conference duals. On Friday MSUM will face Mary at 7 p.m. in Bismarck, N.D., and will conclude the week by hosting Northern State on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Dragons are 6-5 overall and 2-4 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference entering the week. They have won two straight matches. The match against Northern State was rescheduled from earlier this season and will also be Senior Day for MSUM.
MSUM beat Minot State, 25-15 on Feb. 12, thanks to wins from sophomore
Shane Novak and
Blake Bosch. Two days later, the Dragons topped Southwest Minnesota State, 25-15 with Bosch and junior
Chris Bascon leading the way with pins.
Bosch is ranked No. 6 in the nation at 133 pounds and leads the Dragons with a 19-8 mark. Senior
Michael Joseph is 17-11 at 174 pounds, while sophomore
Garret Hoffner is 13-6 at 157 pounds. Senior
Shawn Porter (14-11 at 184 pounds), Novak (11-7 at 125) and sophomore
Isaac Novacek (12-9 at 149) are also above .500 for the Dragons.
Kris Nelson is in his sixth season as MSUM's head coach.
About Mary: Mary is 1-13 overall and 0-6 in the NSIC. The Marauders will face Northern State on Feb. 18 prior to facing the Dragons. In their last dual against Augustana Mary fell, 40-6 on Feb. 8. John Devito is 19-11 at 174 pounds for Mary to lead the lineup. Adam Aho is in his second season as Mary's head coach.
About Northern State: Northern State is 2-11 overall and 0-6 in the NSIC. The Wolves, who lost to Minnesota State 44-6 on Dec. 12, will face Mary on Feb. 18 prior to facing MSUM. Sophomore Joe Gomez is 18-7 at 197 to lead the way for Northern State, while junior Sean Havlovic is 12-8 at 157. Pat Timm is in his 15th season as Northern's head coach.
