MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team kicks off Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on the road this weekend for a pair of doubleheaders. The Dragons play on Saturday at Sioux Falls (1 p.m. doubleheader) and wrap up the weekend on Sunday at Southwest Minnesota State (noon in Marshall, Minn.).

The Dragons are 10-4 on the season for their best start in more than a decade. MSUM went 8-2 on its trip to Florida, which was its best spring break trip since 2006.

Sophomore left fielder Carly Williamson hit .448 in 10 games on the Florida trip, while senior shortstop Taylor Huss hit .419 with two homers and nine RBI. Junior second baseman Kristen Nordby hit .417 with two homers and a team-best 11 RBI. The Dragons hit .317 on the trip with 10 homers and 53 RBI. Junior pitcher Morgan Nybo was 6-2 with a 2.48 ERA in 48 innings on the trip.

For the season, MSUM is hitting .314 as a team with 16 homers and 76 RBI. Huss is hitting .422 with five homers and 14 RBI, while Williamson is hitting .415 with a team-high two triples. Nordby is hitting .412 with three homers and 14 RBI. Senior catcher Brittany York has four homers and a team-best 16 RBI.

Nybo is 8-2 with a 3.16 ERA on the season. She has 33 strikeouts compared to just 18 walks. She has one complete-game shutout this season.

Kelsey Fehl is in her fifth season as MSUM's head coach.

About Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls is 14-6 overall. The Cougars went 6-6 on their trip to Florida last week. They will face Southwest Minnesota State on Wednesday prior to facing MSUM.  Danielle Walker leads the Cougars with a .386 average, while Betsy Thomas has seven homers and 21 RBI.  As a team the Cougars are hitting .274 with 18 homers and 84 RBI. On the mound Alyson Netty is 8-3 with a 3.44 ERA in 65.1 innings. Kelsey Thompson is in her second season as the head coach for Sioux Falls.

About SMSU
The Mustangs are 11-9 on the season. They will face Northern State prior to facing MSUM. SMSU enters the week on a three-game winning streak. Karmann Carroll is hitting .340 with a homer and nine RBI to lead the Mustangs while Alysse Luttman is hitting .333. As a team SMSU is hitting .283 with three homers and 75 RBI. On the mound, Alex O'Connor is 7-5 with a 3.14 ERA in 71.1 innings.  Jamie Dunn is in her second season as SMSU's head coach.

--Huss is tied for seventh with five home runs and is second at .36 home runs per game.
--Brittany York is fourth in RBI per game at 1.14, while Huss and Nordby are tied for seventh (1.00).
