Live StatsLive Video/AudioMOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team begins an eight-game homestand on Tuesday when it hosts Minnesota Duluth. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader begins at 2 p.m. at the MSUM Soccer Field.
With dry weather forecast for Tuesday, it will mark the first time MSUM will have played a home game in March since the 2012 season.
The Dragons (10-8, 0-4 NSIC) opened the NSIC season last weekend with an 0-4 mark on the road after being swept by Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State in doubleheaders.
Sophomore left fielder
Carly Williamson leads the Dragons with a .400 batting average, while junior
Kristen Nordby is hitting .385 with three homers and 15 RBI. Junior
Morgan Nybo is hitting .361 while sophomore
Hannah Klug is hitting .355. Senior shortstop
Taylor Huss had five homers and 15 RBI while senior catcher
Brittany York is hitting .304 with a team-high 17 RBI. As a team the Dragons are hitting .305 with 16 homers and 84 RBI through 18 games.
On the mound, Nybo is 8-5 with a 4.64 ERA. She has one shutout and leads with 38 strikeouts.
Kelsey Fehl is in her fifth season as MSUM's head coach.
Minnesota DuluthThe Bulldogs, who split with Concordia-St. Paul in a doubleheader on Monday, are 19-10 overall and 3-3 in the NSIC. Hannah Schmoll is hitting .420 with 11 RBI and 17 stolen bases while Becky Smith is hitting .419 with seven homers and 36 RBI. As a team UMD is hitting .323 with 30 homers and 135 RBI through 29 games. On the mound Sam Hartmann is 9-4 with a 3.11 ERA in 85.2 innings. Jen Banford is in her 10th season as UMD's head coach with a record of 292-184 at the school.
Wayne StateWayne State is 17-9 overall and 3-3 in the NSIC. The Wildcats are led in hitting by Lexie Loos, who is hitting .458 with a homer and eight RBI. Kaiti Williams is hitting .368 with 21 RBI while Jordan King is hitting .365 with 20 RBI. As a team the Wildcats are hitting .311 with eight homers and 109 RBI. On the mound, Cassy Miller is 5-1 with a 2.76 ERA while Kelcie Bormann is 9-5 with a 2.92 ERA. Shelli Manson is in her first season as Wayne State's head coach.
AugustanaAugustana is 25-5 overall and 6-0 in the NSIC. The Vikings will face Upper Iowa and Northern State in doubleheaders prior to facing the Dragons. Sarah Kennedy leads Augustana with a .515 average while Jenelle Trautmann is hitting .481 with 14 homers and 42 RBI. Caitlin Nichol is hitting .469 with five homers and 21 RBI. As a team Augustana is hitting .328 with 38 homers and 180 RBI in 30 games. On the mound Trautmann is 15-1 with a 2.54 ERA in 107.1 innings. Gretta Melsted is in her ninth season as Augustana's head coach with a record of 322-154 at the school.
