MARSHALL, Minn. — A pin from
Nader Abdullatif at 285 pounds clinched a 23-13 dual meet win for Minnesota State University Moorhead over Southwest Minnesota State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference wrestling Saturday in Marshall, Minn.
MSUM is now 5-9 overall and 2-5 in the NSIC with the win while SMSU fell to 7-13 overall and 3-5 in the league.
"We had three guys pick up bonus points today which is what we have been stressing as a coaching staff," MSUM head coach
Kris Nelson said. "This was our best team effort of the year and I felt each individual did their job for us to get the victory."
While Abdullatif finished off the win for MSUM, it was a key win by sophomore
Jared Goldsmith at 125 that started the momentum for the Dragons. Goldsmith scored a takedown in overtime to take an 8-6 decision.
"The win helped get the team fired up and we continued to wrestle aggressive all the way through the dual," Nelson said.
Senior
Blake Bosch improved to 25-1 on the year with a 15-4 win over SMSU's Jordan Biehn at 133 to push the Dragon lead to 7-0. Sophomore
Kristian Vazquez improved to 11-8 on the year with a 6-3 win over Zachary Beaumaster at 141 to push the lead to 10-0.

The Mustangs won at 165 but sophomore

SMSU won the next two matches to cut the lead to 17-13, but Abdullatif ended the Mustangs' hopes with a pin of Bullard in 58 seconds.
