MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Sophomore
Cole Jones picked up a win over the top-ranked wrestler in the nation at 125 to lead the way for the Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team in the Dragons' 32-6 loss to No. 1 ranked St. Cloud State on Thursday night at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn.
Jones, whose ranked No. 7 in the nation at 125, picked up a huge upset at 125 pounds, winning a 6-4 decision over No. 1 Brett Velasquez to pick up three points for MSUM. Jones is now 21-7 on the year.
"Cole wrestled great," MSUM head coach
Kris Nelson said. "He went out there and fought and picked up a big win against a very good region opponent."
The other win for MSUM was a 1-0 decision at 174 pounds by senior
Adam Blees, who topped Hunter Gray for the win.
MSUM (2-8, 2-4 NSIC) is back in action on Friday when they travel to Marshall, Minn. to face the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
