MSUM Track and Field Posts 4 NCAA Provisional Marks, 4 Victories at Bison Open

FARGO, N.D. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams picked up four NCAA provisional qualifying marks and four victories at the Bison Open, which was held Friday at North Dakota State in Fargo. 

Senior Rachel Schumacher won the women's high jump at 5-5 3/4 which is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. That is tied for 18th best in the nation this season.  Junior Caitlin Pritchett was third at 5-3 3/4.

Senior Nadir Yusuf was second in the men's 3,000 meter run in 8:21.18 which is a school record and NCAA provisional qualifying time. That is second-fastest in the NSIC this season.

Sophomore Shyrone Kemp won the long jump in 23-10 1/4 which is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and ninth-best in all of Division II. It also leads the NSIC. Kemp was third in the high jump at 6-4 3/4.

Junior Chris Cook finished second in the high jump at 6-8 3/4, which is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. That is 10th-best in the nation as of Friday night. 

Senior Tanner Berby won the weight throw in 54-6 for his second victory in that event this season. 

Senior Clay Jackson was second in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.40 which is third-best in the NSIC this season and also a personal-best mark. Sophomore Braxton Bruer was third in the 800-meter run with a personal-best of 1:56.54 which is second-best in the NSIC this season. Carson Speicher's fourth-place time of 1:56.66 is third-best.

Junior Hunter Roseborough was third in the shot put at 49-1 1/2, which was a personal-best.  Connor Hayes was third in the 5,000 meters in 16:10.84 Sophomore Kory Powell-Oliver was third in the 60-meter dash in 7.05 which was a personal-best. Richard Brown III was third in triple jump at 44-2 1/4.

Sophomore McKenzie Maki won the 600-meter run in 1:41.52.

Freshman Robbyn Curry was third in the 400 in 1:00.15 Junior Sydney Bahls was second in the pole vault at 9-6 1/4.

MSUM is scheduled to compete at two events next weekend, at UMary and South Dakota State.
