MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams will host the Ron Masanz Classic this week at the Masanz Classic. The hammer throw will be on Friday at 2 p.m. with all other events taking place on Saturday. No spectators will be allowed at this year's meet.
The Masanz Classic is named after long-time Dragon track and field coach Ron Masanz. He is a member of the MSUM and NSIC Hall of Fame and the MSUM track is named after him. Masanz led MSUM to 28 indoor and outdoor conference championships in his tenure with the Dragons.
No spectators will be allowed at this year's meet. All events will be streamed at nsicnetwork.com/msumdragons (also linked above). Live results can accessed above as well.
The discus, long jump and triple jump events begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday. Running events, starting with the steeplechase, begin at 1 p.m.

Last Week: Yusuf Sets Record at Drake, Dragons Win at 8 NSU Spring Open
Senior Nadir Yusuf won the 10,000-meter run at the Drake Relays on Thursday night, becoming the first Dragon individual to win an event at the prestigious event. Yusuf's time of 29:12.04 was a school record and an NCAA automatic qualifying time.
Yusuf broke the previous school record by more than 46 seconds. The time is ranked 11th in the nation so far this season.
On Saturday, MSUM picked up eight wins at the Northern State Spring Open in Aberdeen, S.D.
For the women, junior Anna Steadland won the 100 in 12.23 with Princess York second in 12.59. Steadland was second in the 200 in 25.68. Freshman Payton Lane won the 5,000 meters in 17:52.42.
Junior Shyrone Kemp won the men's triple jump with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 49-9. That jump is best in the NSIC this season. He also won the long jump at 22-7.
Sophomore Kory Powell-Oliver won the men's 100 in 10.65, which is the fourth-best time in the NSIC this season. Senior Clay Jackson won the 110 hurdles in 14.73 while sophomore Braxton Bruer won the men's 1,500 in 3:59.47.
Sophomore Adnew Stueven won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:59.63.
