SMITHVILLE, Mo. – MSU Moorhead women's golf opened up the NSIC Golf Championships on Friday morning. MSUM shot an opening round 359 through 18 holes. They currently sit in 11
th place with 36 holes left to play this weekend.
Winona State tops the team leaderboard following day one at 12 over par (300).
Madison Braun led the Dragons in round one, finishing 11 shots over par (83). While Braun did not register a birdie in the round, she was consistent throughout, knocking in nine pars. This included a par on the 477-yard par-5 ninth hole at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex. She sits tied for 31st in the individual standings.
Senior
Meghan McBride had five pars and a birdie on the par-4 fourth hole and would go on to shoot a 91 in her first round of play.
Erin Summerbell shot one stroke better than McBride with four pars and a birdie in her first round. Summerbell penciled in a birdie on the 325-yard par-4 12
th hole.
Ellie Fischer nabbed two birdies on a pair of par-3s to open her conference tournament. Fischer had pars on four holes, including the par-5 fifth hole to shoot a 95.
Callie Krause picked up a birdie on the par-4 second hole to go along with three pars in her opening round to shoot a 101.
