MSUM Track & Field Sees Numerous Personal Bests at Pair of Meets

MOORHEAD, Minn./BISMARCK, N.D. – MSU Moorhead track & field saw several new personal-bests as well as event wins as the Dragons competed at both the Cobber Open and Mike Thorson Open on Saturday. 

The Cobber Open was hosted by Concordia College in Moorhead with the Mike Thorson Open hosted by the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. 

Sprints/Hurdles
 
At the Cobber Open, Colby Larson (9.09) and Hunter Miller (9.38) would register personal bests in the 60m hurdles to finish third and fourth respectively. Adla Serrao clocked a season-best time of 10.21 to place eighth in the event. 
 
In Bismarck, Mickalyn Babcock would win her preliminary heat of the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.44. Babcock would finish third in the finals heat with a mark of 9.56. Shavantae Roberts would run a 7.83 finals time in the 60m dash to finish fourth overall. Roberts would finish runner-up in the 200m later in the day with a time of 25.90. On the men's side in Bismarck, Jerome Crayton would also finish runner-up with a time of 22.45. 
 
In the 60m dash in Moorhead, Desiree Loyd would finish runner-up with a mark of 8.07. On the men's side Latrell Taylor (7.39) and Elkan Johnson (7.42) would finish seventh and eighth respectively with Taylor's time a new personal-best. 
 
Jumps/Vaults
 
Nicholas Huss would win the pole vault event of the first time in his collegiate career with a personal-best clearance of 13-09.25 (4.20m). In Bismarck, Tyler Missick cleared 6-08.75 to win men's high jump and equal the 10th-best high jump in school history. Missick's jump is also an NCAA provisional mar.k. 
 
At the Mike Thorson Open, MSUM commanded the long jump as Shyrone Kemp won the event with a leap of 24-05.75 (7.46m) which is a new best for the senior. Kemp's leap is now the third-best in school history. Kemp also notched an NCAA provisional mark with the jump. David Daniels hit a personal-best in the same event with a mark of 23-02.75 (7.06m) which ties the eighth-best mark in MSUM history. 
 
Throws
 
Kiley Kranz would finish fifth in women's shot put with a top toss of 36-08.25 (11.18m). Kranz would place runner-up in the weight throw later in the afternoon with a personal-best toss of 44-11 (13.69m). Darius Sechen would lead the Dragon charge on the men's side by winning the men's weight throw with a throw of 46-09.5 (14.26m), which is a new personal-best for the sophomore. 
 
Distance
 
Grace Dorsher would record a new personal-best in the women's 1000m run at the Cobber Open. Dorsher clocked a 3:14.21 to finish runner-up in the race. The Dragon men owned the men's 1000m as Braxton Bruer won the race with a personal-best time of 2:29.85, which is now the ninth-fastest time in MSUM history. 
 
Colin O'Farrell (2:32.86), Adnew Stueven (2:37.84) and James Dorado (2:40.10) would finish right behind Bruer with second, third and fourth place finishes respectively. Brett Kurschner (2:44.38) and Joel Brault (2:45.02) would place sixth and seventh in the same race.
