JAMESTOWN, N.D. – MSU Moorhead track & field saw a host of personal bests set at the Al Cassell Classic in Jamestown, N.D. with numerous event wins for the Dragons.
Braxton Bruer ran the second-fastest 800m of his career on day two at the Bryan Clay Invitational for MSUM.
Sprints/Hurdles
Desiree Loyd would run a personal best in the 100m dash to open track events for MSUM in Jamestown. The true freshman would finish third overall in the race with a 12.600 time. Loyd would finish sixth in the 200m later in the afternoon, running a 26.72.
David Daniels would follow suit with a fresh personal best of his own on the men's side. Daniels crossed the line with a mark of 11.03 to finish runner-up. In men's 200m action,
Elkan Johnson would earn a new personal best time of 23.18 as would
Isaiah Johnson with a 23.25 time.
Liv Birkeland would run for the first time in her collegiate career and mark a 1:03.59 in the women's 400m race.
Onyedika Okoye would register a new personal best of 1:03.75 in the same race.
Frosty Wisnewski would clock a new personal best in the men's 400m, finishing eighth with a time of 52.98.
Brooke Baumann would clock a personal best in the 400m hurdles, finishing sixth with a time of 1:10.76. It was Baumann's first time competing in the event as a collegiate student-athlete.
Throws
Kiley Kranz would finish ninth in women's hammer throw with a toss of 130-02 (39.67m).
Codi Bunting would finish right behind Kranz in the same event with a new personal best effort of 129-07 (39.50m). Bunting's previous best was 114-06 (34.91m).
Katelyn Zaiger would post a 12
th place finish with a 128-11 (39.31m) marker. On the men's side,
Darius Sechen would throw a personal best of 147-07 (44.99m) to finish seventh overall. Sechen's previous best was 139-02 (42.41m).
Zaiger would finish sixth in women's discus with a mark of 118-04 (36.08m). Kranz would also eighth in the same event with a personal best of 117-10 (35.93m). Finally,
Janae LaFerriere would turn in a personal best of 111-05 (33.98m) to finish 10
th overall.
Isaac Friese would place fourth in men's javelin with a top throw of 169-06 (51.68m).
Mickalyn Babcock would set a new personal best on the women's side with a throw of 74-07 (22.74m).
Brennan Sellheim would finish in fifth place in men's shot put with a hurl of 44-11.5 (13.70m), a new personal best.
Jumps/Vaults
In women's pole vault,
Ashley Hokanson completely dominated for her first event win of the outdoor season. Hokanson had a clearance of 13-07.25 (4.15m) to win by nearly two feet. Leya Theicher would place fifth in the same event with a 09-04.25 (2.85m). On the men's side,
Nicholas Huss finished fourth, clearing 13-00.75 (3.98m).
McKenna Schreiber would lead the Dragon jumps as she would take home an event win in long jump. The freshman set a new personal best with a leap of 17-04.25 (5.29m). Schreiber would place third in triple jump as well with a 34-10.5 (10.63m) leap in her first time competing in the event.
David Daniels would continue the winning ways, walking away with men's long jump with a top effort of 23-06 (7.16m), a massive personal best.
Kade Larson finished fourth in men's triple jump with a mark of 41-08.5 (12.71m).
Owen Korbel would place fifth in men's high jump with a clearance of 5-08.75 (1.75m).
Distance
Roughly 1,700 miles to the southwest in Azusa, Calif.,
Braxton Bruer would be the lone competitor for MSUM at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Bruer would run in the invite section of the 800m and clock an impressive 1:49.70, which builds on his NCAA provisional time. It is the second-fastest 800m of Bruer's career behind his 1:49.45 outdoor school record mark.
