Dragons Post Numerous Top Ten Marks at UMary Classic

BISMARCK, N.D. – MSU Moorhead track & field saw numerous top ten marks set in both track and field events at Thursday's UMary Classic in Bismarck, N.D. Meanwhile, Adnew Stueven opened up Dragon competition at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. 
 
Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
 
Shavantae Roberts would continue to pace the Dragon sprints group, winning the 100m dash with a time of 11.78. Roberts was the only competitor to clear a time under 12 seconds in the race. Roberts would also run an incredible 200m later in the afternoon, clocking a 24.15 to finish runner-up. The time is now the second-fastest outdoor 200m in school history and is a new personal best for the sophomore. It is also an NCAA provisional mark.
 
Jerome Crayton would notch a new personal best in the men's 100m dash with a time of 10.78 to finish runner-up. David Daniels would finish seventh in the same race with a mark of 10.98, a new personal best. Crayton would collect his second personal best of the day in the 200m, running a 21.79 to place sixth. 
 
Elliott MacLennan would earn a runner-up finish in the men's 400m dash, clocking a 49.03 mark. Frosty Wisnewski would set a new personal best in the same event with a time of 52.16 to place eighth. Wisnewski would also set a new personal record in the 200m with a mark of 22.76. 
 
In 400m hurdles action, Brooke Baumann would set a new personal best, finishing sixth overall with a time of 1:10.24. For relays, the women's 4x400m team of Roberts, McKenna Schreiber, Liv Birkeland and Onyedika Okoye would win the event with a time of 4:24.40. 
 
Jumps/Vaults
 
Nicholas Huss would finish third in men's pole vault with a top clearing of 13-07.25 (4.15m). In women's vault, Sydney Bahls would finish sixth with a clearance of 9-10 (3.00m). 
 
In women's long jump, Schreiber would lead the way for MSUM, finishing fourth with a leap of 17-00 (5.18m). Desiree Loyd (5.07m) and Ayden Ochs (4.50m) would each set personal bests in the event as well. David Daniels would finish runner-up on the men's side with a mark of 22-11.75 (7.00m). 
 
Throws
 
Sam Azure would earn a fourth-place finish in women's javelin with a top throw of 104-11 (31.97m). In women's shot put, Kiley Kranz would launch a massive personal best of 42-03.50 (12.89m) to finish fourth. It is the sixth-best outdoor shot put in MSUM history. Azure would set a personal best as well, tossing a 36-10.50 (11.24m) to finish ninth. 
 
Katelyn Zaiger would finish fifth in women's hammer throw, nearly topping her personal best with a mark of 132-01 (40.26m). Zaiger would set a new personal best in discus, finishing fourth with a throw of 131-09 (40.15m). For Zaiger, it is the eighth-best outdoor discus throw in school history. Janae LaFerriere would also set a personal best in the same event with a mark of 113-10 (34.69m) to place ninth. 
 
On the men's side, Brennan Sellheim would set a new personal best in shot put with a toss of 49-07.75 (15.13m) to place third. In hammer throw, Darius Sechen would uncork a new personal best of 158-06 (48.32m) to finish runner-up. 
 
Distance
 
James Dorado would win the men's 5000m run in convincing fashion, posting a winning time of 15:18.58. Dorado took home the event win by over 30 seconds with teammate Brett Kurschner finishing second with a mark of 15:51.29. Joel Brault would place fifth in the same run with a time of 15:54.23.
 
Abbie Christen would run a solid 4:56.86 in the women's 1500m to narrowly finish runner-up. Grace Dorsher would finish just behind Christen with a time of 4:58.65 to finish third, registering a new personal best in the event. Katelyn Kennedy would earn a third-place finish in the women's 800m with a time of 2:29.38.
 
Colin O'Farrell would continue his hot streak in the men's 800m, winning the event with a personal best time of 1:54.33. O'Farrell won the race by nearly three seconds. Will Massmann would place fifth in the same event with a time of 2:02.40, a new personal record. 
 
Adnew Stueven was the lone Dragon competing at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday. Running in his signature event, the 3000m steeplechase, Stueven clocked a 9:02.36 to finish 10th overall.
 
Up Next
 
The Dragons continue competition at the Drake Relays tomorrow as Braxton Bruer (800m), Jared Gregoire (800m), Ibrahim Oduong (400m) and Ashley Hokanson (pole vault) are all scheduled to compete. The 800m is scheduled to begin at 1:53 p.m. with 400m competition beginning at 5:32 p.m. Hokanson will begin vaulting at 5:05 p.m.
