Moorhead Wrestling Onto DWU Open

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead wrestling is set to compete at the annual Dakota Wesleyan Open this Saturday. Action from Mitchell, S.D., is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

Live results will be available at msumdragons.com. Moorhead opened the 2025-26 campaign last weekend at the Jimmie Open in Jamestown, N.D. True freshman 157-pounder Gunner Hostetter was a place winner for the Dragons. 

Frosh Starts Strong...True freshman 157-pounder Gunner Hostetter turned in a strong outing to open his season at the Jimmie Open. Hostetter would begin the tournament with a technical fall victory over Bismarck State's Izac Turner. Hostetter would rack up points at will, claiming the match by a 15-0 count. The Saint Francis, Minn., native would qualify for the 157-pound semifinals following a medical forfeit in the quarterfinals. Hostetter would earn sixth-place marks in the weight class.

Powell-ing Around...Senior 197-pounder Wyatt Powell earned two wins at the Jimmie Open on Sunday. Powell defeated Bismarck State's Ashton Zimney via fall at 1:30 for his first win of 2025. Powell would also defeat 197-pound teammate Kish Eberline by major decision, 9-1.

Garden Of Edon...Sophomore Edon Davis looked sharp at 165 pounds for the Dragons last weekend at the Jimmie Open. Davis collected a pair of wins on the day, opening his morning by pinning Minot State's John Armstrong at 3:56 before sticking Bismarck State's Colton King at 1:53. 

Two More Grab Wins...Sophomores Damon Ferguson and Isaiah Wright each earned their first wins of the season at the Jimmie Open on Sunday. Ferguson pinned Bismarck State's Colton King 6:17. Wright earned a victory in the heavyweight division, grabbing a 5-3 decision over Bismarck State's Isaiah Horan.
