NSIC OTF Day Two: Conference Champions, All-NSIC and School Records...Oh My!

DULUTH, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead track & field would crown two conference champions on day two of the NSIC Outdoor Championships. Jazmin Barry (long jump) and Jaiden Peraza (high jump) would win NSIC titles while Jasiah Hambira (high jump), Hunter Miller (decathlon) and Chase Hoechst (10,000m) would earn all-conference distinction. Barry and Shavantae Roberts would also set school records on Friday.

As a team, MSUM's men's program sits in second place with 39 points while the Dragon women sit in a tie for ninth place with 12 points. 
 
Men's high jump would see a repeat of the indoor season as Jaiden Peraza would earn another NSIC title. The junior cleared 6-09.75 (2.08m) to sweep the high jump event for the 2024-25 season. Jasiah Hambira would finish runner-up, earning all-conference honors by clearing 6-08.75 (2.05m).  Gerald Melin (1.92m) and Mac Kunza (1.87m) would finish ninth and 10th in the same event. 
 
Jazmin Barry would earn MSUM's second conference championship of the day, winning women's long jump. Barry would travel 19-05.25 (5.92m) which sets a new MSUM school record while also setting a Jim Malosky Stadium record. For Barry, it is her first NSIC title with the leap being an NCAA provisional length. Tylah Pratt (5.41m) would narrowly miss a podium finish in the same event. David Daniels would collect sixth-place marks for the Dragons in men's long jump, traveling 23-02 (7.06m). 
 
Shavantae Roberts would improve upon her school record (and NCAA provisional) time in the 100m dash preliminaries. Roberts clocked an 11.42 to qualify for tomorrow's finals, besting her prior MSUM record of 11.51. The performance also moves Roberts into the top 20 in NCAA Division II this season.
 
Hunter Miller would conclude competition in the men's decathlon on Friday, beginning the morning with a third-place finish in the 110m hurdles (15.64). The time was a new personal best for Miller, who notched a top discus throw of 69-8 (21.25m) to remain in fourth place with three events remaining. 
 
Miller would place third in the pole vault portion, clearing 12-04 (3.76m). After tossing a 109-03 (33.30m) in the javelin portion, Miller sat in fourth place heading into the final event. Needing a strong showing to earn All-NSIC distinction, Miller would place runner-up in the 1500m run. The Motley, Minn., native marked a 4:47.69 with the finish moving him into third place overall. Miller earned his first all-conference nod with 5959 points, the sixth-best decathlon showing in program history. 
 
Chase Hoechst would get the Dragon distance squad going with an All-NSIC finish in the 10,000m run. Hoechst clocked a personal best time of 31:23.16 to earn a runner-up placement. The time is also the ninth-fastest 10,000m in program history. Zane Guderjahn (32:32.23) and James Dorado (32:32.47) would see strong races as well, placing eighth and ninth respectively. 
 
Kiley Kranz would earn a spot in the women's shot put finals with a throw of 43-08 (13.31m). The mark would remain Kranz's best after three additional throws as the sophomore would earn a podium finish, placing eighth overall.
 
In the women's 3000m steeplechase, Grace Dorsher concluded her career with a personal best effort of 11:25.59 to place eighth. The time moves Dorsher to fourth all-time in MSUM history in the event. On the men's side, Lander Lahtinen would turn in a finishing time of 9:38.36 to place sixth. The time for Lahtinen improves on his prior personal best by nearly 12 seconds.
 
Colin O'Farrell would earn a spot in tomorrow's 800m finals, placing sixth in preliminary action. O'Farrell would clock a time of 1:55.51 to earn the placement. Manjot Singh would qualify for the 400m hurdle finals, marking a time of 54.13 to earn a fourth-place finish. 
 
Adla Serrao would register an impressive personal best of 14.84 in the 100m hurdle preliminaries. The time for Serrao is now the eighth-best in MSUM history. 
 
The NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships conclude tomorrow with events beginning at 10 a.m.
