Dragon Golf Begins Action at The Jewel Invitational

LAKE CITY, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead golf began play at The Jewel Invitational, hosted by Winona State on Monday morning. The Dragons sit in 12th place as a team after 18 holes. 
 
The Dragons had a cumulative score of 349 after one day of competition. Minnesota State leads the team scoring after 18 holes behind an impressive 295 score. 
 
Sophomore Aspen Beyer held the team low round on day one for MSUM, carding an 85 overall. Beyer was relatively steady all day, penciling in six pars, including one to open her morning. The Wheaton, Minn., native had even scores on a pair of par fives at The Jewel Golf Club. Freshman Adi Houkom was also strong on day one for the Dragons, shooting an 86 overall. Houkom had six pars on the front nine alone as well as a pair of birdies on her scorecard. The freshman had one-under marks on a pair of par three holes. On the front nine alone, Houkom carded a 37 overall, just one stroke over par. 
 
Halle Balluff would shoot an 89 through her first 18 holes, putting in three pars and two birdies. Balluff notched an impressive birdie on the par-five first hole which spanned 510 yards. The Moorhead native also earned a one-under score on the par-four 10th hole. Rounding out the scoring on day one was junior Regan Braun, who carded an identical 89. Braun had six pars in her round as well as a birdie on the par-three fifth hole at The Jewel. Braun matched her personal best (nine holes) on the front nine on Monday, shooting a 39.
 
Karlee Luneckas would shoot a 100 overall through 18 holes in a round that included three pars. 
 
The final round of The Jewel Invitational is set to tee off tomorrow at 10 a.m.
