MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead track & field will head north this weekend for the annual UND Open in Grand Forks, N.D. The meet begins at 3 p.m. on Friday with a majority of events taking place throughout Saturday.
Live results will be available at msumdragons.com. Moorhead last competed at the Cobber Alumni Open on January 24 which saw the Dragons collect 11 event wins as a team.
Hurdlin' By...Hurdler
Ahneisha Presulme turned in a sharp week for the Dragons at the Cobber Alumni Open. In the 60m hurdles, Presulme would win the preliminary at 9.43. Presulme would also win the finals heat with a personal best sprint of 9.24. The mark now stands as the eighth-best time in MSUM history. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native would also place third in long jump at 5.22m.
Jacobson Shines...Sophomore thrower
Justin Jacobson saw another strong week of results in both shot put and weight throw. At the Cobber Alumni Open, Jacobson would win the weight throw competition behind a top toss of 57-07.5 (17.56m), marking a new season best and moving him to fifth in program history. In shot put, Jacobson would also win with a personal best effort of 56-06.5 (17.23m) which improves on the second-best throw in program history. The performance also advanced Jacobson's NCAA provisional efforts.
Larson Leaps and Sprints...Sophomore
Allysah Larson was strong across multiple events for the Dragons at the Cobber Alumni Open. Larson would claim women's long jump win behind a leap of 17-0.5 (5.37m). In women's 60m dash, the Jamestown, N.D., native would clock the eighth-fastest time in MSUM history, winning preliminary action with a time of 7.85.
Youngsters Step Up...The Dragons had several newcomers make an impact at the Cobber Alumni Open. Men's long jump saw freshman
Owen Symanietz claim an event win behind a leap of 20-02.5 (6.15m). Fellow freshman
Aidan Fitts would place fourth in the same event with a top mark of 19-05.25 (5.92m). In the men's 60mMoorhead would qualify three in
Isaiah Tandoh (6.93),
Brandon Pemberton (7.02) and
Louis Sobiech (7.12). The freshman Tandoh would secure the event win in the finals with an identical time as his preliminary. Newcomer Pemberton would finish runner-up with an improved mark of 6.95.
Kranz Locks In...Junior thrower
Kiley Kranz would lead the Dragons in both weight throw and shot put at the Cobber Alumni Open. The Osakis, Minn., native would help lead Moorhead in women's shot put, winning the event with a toss of 42-01.5 (12.84m).Kranz also placed second in weight throw with a top mark of 47-10.75 (14.60m).
