The Return of Gode...Senior Mason Gode made his return to the mat last Friday against Jamestown after missing much of the season due to injury. Gode looked to be in midseason form against the Jimmies, scoring a 15-0 technical fall over Rocker Aguillar at 4:44. The Browerville, Minn., native held a 19-7 overall record a season ago and was Super Region V's fourth-place finisher at 174 pounds. Gode will compete at 165 pounds in this year's regional tournament.

Thomas Stays Hot...Fellow senior Jacob Thomas enters the regional tournament on a four-match winning streak after pinning Jamestown's Maddox Campbell at 3:44 last Friday. Of Thomas' last four wins, two have come via fall. So far this season, Thomas has eight wins on his ledger.

Mele Turning It On...Senior 125-pounder Clayson Mele enters the regional tournament behind two straight wins. Mele collected his second win in as many duals against Jamestown, tallying a 19-1 technical fall over Isaac Ronquillo. The Green River, Wyo., native's offense has exploded in recent matches, having earned a fall against Minot State on February 7. Mele holds 11 victories so far this season with three falls and a pair of technical falls.

Dragons At The Region Tournament...Last season was one of MSUM's most memorable NCAA Super Region V Tournaments as both Pedro Velazquez and Ryan Henningson were regional runners-up in their weight classes. Additionally, Gode would place fourth at 174 pounds with heavyweight Liam Babitt placing fifth.

By The Numbers...The heavyweight Babitt continues to lead the Dragons in wins, securing his 20th via forfeit last Friday in Jamestown. Babitt also leads the Dragons with seven wins by fall on the season. Wyatt Powell paces the Dragons with four technical falls this season while Velazquez holds a team-best six major decisions. Velazquez was ranked 16th at 141 pounds in the latest Open Mat rankings.

Kris Nelson is in his 17th season as MSUM's head wrestling coach.
