WAYNE, Neb. – Minnesota State Moorhead golf began play at the Wildcat Classic on Monday morning. The Dragons shot a collective 348 through 18 holes of play.
True freshman
Adi Houkom paced the Dragons on day one, carding a collegiate best 81. Houkom tallied eight even holes and a birdie in her first round. The true freshman penciled in one-under marks on the par-four 14
th hole at Wayne Country Club.
Senior
Halle Balluff would be one stroke off of her teammate, shooting an 82. Balluff was consistent all day, holing 10 pars in the round. The Moorhead native logged five consecutive even holes on the back nine.
Aspen Beyer would finish a shot back of Balluff with an 83 overall. The sophomore had six pars and a birdie through 18 holes. Beyer collected her birdie on the par-four 15
th hole which spanned 368 yards.
Rounding out the Dragon scoring on Monday was
Karlee Luneckas with a 102, including a par.
Regan Braun would shoot a 104 with a pair of pars through 18 holes. Playing as an individual,
Kamryn Wesloh would card a first-round 96 with five pars.
The Wildcat Classic concludes tomorrow with second round action beginning at 10 a.m.
