| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Sophomores Justin Jacobson and Allysah Larson have been named the Minnesota State Moorhead Athletes of the Month presented by Buffalo Wild Wings for the month of April 2026.

Jacobson turned in a dominant month of April across all throwing events for the Dragons, earning his second Athlete of the Month honor this season (January 2026). The sophomore began his month registering a personal best in hammer throw at the NDSU Spring Invitational. Jacobson finished third with a mark of 183-06 (55.93m). That throw is now the fourth-best in MSUM history. The Pelican Rapids, Minn., native would then sweep the shot put (16.85m), hammer throw (53.21m) and the discus (53.21m) at the Dewey Donat Classic on April 16. Jacobson's discus effort became a new MSUM school record, besting a mark that has stood since 2001. The effort also sits as the 19th-best in NCAA Division II this season. Jacobson was not done dominating yet either, sweeping the shot put (16.46m), discus (48.77m) and hammer throw (52.85m) at the Viking Twilight on April 21. To conclude his month, Jacobson would win three more events at the Al Cassell Classic on April 25. The sophomore again claimed shot put (16.55m), discus (45.53m) and hammer throw (54.37m) while also finishing third in javelin (49.58m).

Larson also enjoyed a historic month of April which began at the NDSU Spring Invitational on April 11. The sophomore clocked a personal best 100m dash time of 12.18, now the eighth-fastest mark in program history. At the same meet, Larson placed fourth in triple jump with a then-personal best 38-11.5 (11.87m). The Jamestown, N.D., product would go on to reset that personal best (and then some) at the Dewey Donat Classic on April 16. Larson won the triple jump with an MSUM school record leap of 39-09.25 (12.12m). That mark sits as the 23rd-best in NCAA Division II so far this season. Larson also placed runner-up in long jump at the same meet with another personal best of 18-10 (5.74m), now the fourth-best effort in program history. To wrap the month, Larson placed eighth in triple jump (11.49m) and 10th in long jump (5.46m) at the Gary Wilson Invitational on April 22. Throughout the month of April, Larson was also a member of three event-winning 4x100m relay teams. The squad had a top mark of 47.41 at the NDSU Spring Invitational, which now ranks fourth all-time in MSUM history.
