MOORHEAD, Minn. — Junior
Josh Young finished fourth overall to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead men's cross country team at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships on Saturday in Moorhead, Minn. The Dragon men finished sixth overall while the women, led by junior
Marissa Carlson, were eighth.
The Dragon men finished with 137 points.
Young finished fourth overall to pick up the third All-NSIC first team honor of his career. Young's time was 24:50.3. Young has finished in the top 10 at all three conference meets in his Dragon career.

Sophomore
Nadir Yusuf was 13th in 25:10.7 to pick up All-NSIC second team honors.
The other nine Dragon runners who competed were either freshmen or redshirt freshmen. Redshirt freshman
Nick Marshall finished 36th in 26:04.5. Freshman
Drew Mears was 44th in 26:17.8 while Devin Derringer was 53rd in 26:32.7 and freshman
Alec Sanbeck 54th in 26:33.2. Freshman
Hunter Kjelshus was 57th in 26:44.3.
"We're pretty excited for the future. Our runners three through 12, everyone is a freshman," Milner said.
Mason Phillips, a sophomore at the University of Sioux Falls, won with a time of 24:06.6. Augustana won the men's team title with 36 points.
Senior Alexis Zeis from U-Mary won the women's race in 20:49.5 to pick up the second NSIC title of her career. U-Mary won the women's team competition with 30 points.
Carlson led the way for the Dragon women, finishing 27th with a time of 22:25.9. Sophomore
Kathryn Sistrunk was 35th in 22:47.7 while sophomore
Whitney Welder was 83rd in 24:27.0. Freshman
Emily Hultin was 86th (24:36.5) while junior
Samantha Swenson was 101st in 25:11.7. Junior
Alicia Swenson was 114th (25:50) and freshman
Megan Kucera 116th in 25:54.0.
The Dragon women finished with 264 points.
"We had two sophomores and two freshmen competing for the women. It was a valuable experience for the whole team to compete in an environment like that," Milner said.
MSUM now turns its attention to the NCAA Central Region Championships, which will be held on Nov. 4 in Kearney, Neb.
