MANKATO, Minn. –
Ashley Hokanson and the Dragon distance medley relay team collected conference championships for MSUM on day one of the NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
On the day,
Shyrone Kemp,
Ashley Hokanson and the distance medley team of
Kendrick Major,
Adnew Stueven,
Braxton Bruer and
Jared Gregoire all took home all-conference honors. The medley team reset the NSIC record in the event as well.
Through one day, the MSUM men are in fifth place as a team with the Dragon women in eighth place.
Sprints
Robynn Rolle-Curry qualified for the 400m finals on Sunday with a 55.92 preliminary time. Rolle-Curry would place third in the 200m preliminaries as well with a time of 24.92 to qualify for tomorrow's final.
Elliott MacLennan (49.43),
Ibrahim Oduong (49.24) and
Kendrick Major (49.49) would all qualify for the men's 400m final with their respective times.
Thomas Kern just missed the cut in the event, running a 50.66 in the preliminaries.
MacLennan and Kern would make the finals cut in the men's 200m. Kern ran a 22.42 while MacLennan had the best preliminary time at 21.99.
Shaquiel Higgs ran a personal best 8.55 in the 60m hurdle preliminaries while
Adla Serrao clocked a 9.16, another personal best in the same event on the women's side.
Shavantae Roberts clocked a 7.72 in the women's 60m preliminaries, an MSUM best for her.
Relays
The team of
Adnew Stueven,
Kendrick Major,
Braxton Bruer and
Jared Gregoire broke the conference record in the distance medley. Taking first, the team ran a 9:55.26 to set a new NSIC all-time best. It also shattered the MSUM school record by nearly 15 seconds.
Jumps/Vaults
Ashley Hokanson once again showcased her talent in the pole vault. The sophomore took home the conference championship in the event with a top mark of 13'-03.75" and would also earn all-conference distinction in the process. Hokanson has yet to lose a pole vault event this indoor season.
Shyrone Kemp took runner-up and all-conference honors in the men's long jump. The senior had a top leap of 24'-05.5", a personal best and the third-best leap in MSUM history.
Middle Distance/Distance
Braxton Bruer won the men's 800m preliminary with a time of 1:57 while
Lane Dullum also qualified for the final tomorrow with a time of 1:59.81.
Jared Gregoire had the top preliminary time in the 1000m run with a time of 2:29.49.
Adnew Stueven would also qualify for the finals in the event, clocking a time of 2:31.72.
James Dorado completed his indoor season with a sixth place finish in the 5000m run. The freshman finished with a time of 15:10.65.
Multis
Colby Larson sits in eighth in the men's heptathlon. Larson ran a 7.39 in the 60m while also leaping a 21'-01.25" in the long jump. Logan Kletscher ran a 7.13 in the 60m and is in 12th in the same event.
Throws
Ben Oie notched a new collegiate best in the men's weight throw with a toss of 49'-07.25".
