Hokanson Dazzles Once Again to Lead MSUM at Bison Open

FARGO, N.D. – At the annual Bison Open, Ashley Hokanson continued to dazzle for MSUM track & field, winning her fourth pole vault event of the season and breaking her own school record in the process. 
 
Hokanson vaulted a 13'-06.25" on Friday evening to win the event by just under two feet. To date, the sophomore has yet to lose a pole vault event she had entered this indoor season. The vault also broke her own school record (13'-05.25"), set back on December 2 and is the top vault in Division II this season.
 
The Dragons men finished second as a team with 95.5 points while MSUM's women finished seventh as a team with 32.5 points.
 
Sprints/Hurdles
 
Robynn Rolle-Curry was the top finisher for MSUM in the women's 200m on Friday. The junior ran a 25.01 to finish fourth in the event. In her debut meet, Shavante Roberts clocked in a 26.21 to finish seventh in the same event. Roberts also placed fifth in the women's 60m dash, putting in a time of 7.73, the third fastest time in MSUM history.
 
Rolle-Curry also won the 400m on Saturday, running a 56.87 in the event, winning by nearly one second. 
 
In the men's 200m, Jerome Crayton ran a 22.71 to finish eighth. The time fell just outside the top ten in MSUM school history. 
 
The Dragons took four out of the top five places in the 400m. Thomas Kern won the event with a time of 49.16, which is the eighth fastest time in school history. Ibrahim Oduong (49.38), Kendrick Major (49.72) and Elliott MacLennan (49.92) finished third, fourth and fifth in the event respectively. 
 
Ty Dawkins ran a 6.93 in the men's 60m to finish third while David Daniels (7.11) placed sixth.
 
Relays
 
In the men's 4x400m relay, the team of Elliott MacLennan, Ibrahim Oduong, Thomas Kern and Kendrick Major took runner-up honors. The team finished the relay with a time of 3:17.69.
 
Throws
 
Katelyn Zaiger led MSUM in the women's weight throw, slinging a 42'-11" for a top throw. 
That mark bested Zaiger's personal best of 39'-08.5" which she set last weekend at the UND Open. 
 
Jordan Nolan and Benjamin Oie were the top finishers for the Dragons in the men's shot put. Nolan threw a 45'-05" while Oie tossed a 44-11.5". Nolan was also the top finisher for MSUM in the men's weight throw with a top throw45'-08.5".
 
Jumps/Vaults
 
Ashley Hokanson continued her dominance in the pole vault, winning the event for the fourth consecutive meet on Friday. Her top vault of 13'-06.25" broke her own previous school record of 13'-05.25", which was also set inside the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility earlier this indoor season. To date, it is the top vault in all of Division II.
 
Shyrone Kemp placed third in the men's high jump with a top jump of 6'-07". Kemp won the men's triple jump with a top leap of 47'-01". 
 
David Daniels finished seventh in the men's long jump with a leap of 21'-0.75". Nicholas Huss finished eighth in the men's pole vault with a top vault of 12'-08".
 
Middle Distance/Distance
 
Braxton Bruer won the men's 800m run with a time of 1:51.95, a new facility record at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field facility. Jared Gregoire finished behind Bruer with a time of 1:52.27, which would have been a new facility record if not for Bruer. 

James Dorado finished ninth in the 3000m run to lead the Dragons. The freshman ran a 8:50.80 in the event. On the women's side, Grace Dorsher ran a 10:54.83 to place sixth in the same event. Kaelyn Berg finished 10th in the same event with a time of 11:15.68.
 
Multis
 
Colby Larson was the top finisher for the Dragons in the mens's heptathlon, finishing sixth with 4,215 points. Sophia Sowada was the top Dragon in the women's pentathlon, finishing 10th with 3,024 points.
 
Up Next
 
The Dragons compete again next weekend at a pair of meets. The two teams will compete at the SDSU Indoor Classic and the Minnesota State Massive Meet on Friday and Saturday.
