Moorhead Track & Field Competes at Two Meets

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead track & field continues its outdoor schedule this week in a pair of meets outside the state of Minnesota. The Dragons will compete at the Dewey Donat Classic on Thursday at 11 a.m. while a small group is set to take on the Bryan Clay Inviational in Azusa, Calif., which also begins Thursday. 

Live results for both meets will be available at msumdragons.com. The Dragons opened the outdoor season on Saturday and Sunday as part of the NDSU Spring Invitational. 

Pemberton's Pace...Sophomore sprinter Brandon Pemberton won a pair of events for Moorhead at the NDSU Spring Invitational. He would lead the Dragon men in the 100m, winning the sprint with a time of 10.55. For Pemberton, the mark matches the third-fastest time in MSUM history. The Hanover, Md., native also claimed victory in the 200m dash. Pemberton won behind a time of 21.27. The mark is the fourth-fastest in program history.

Turning It Ahn(iesha)...Redshirt junior Ahniesha Presulme saw an impressive opening to her outdoor campaign at the NDSU Spring Invitational. Presulme would lead the Dragon women in triple jump, placing third with a personal best jump of 39-01.25 (11.92m). The leap for the junior is now the second-best in program history. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., product would also place sixth in the women's 100m hurdles behind a time of 14.68. That mark is now the eighth-fastest time in program history.

These Boots Were Made For Running...Junior distance man Jadon Boots secured his first outdoor event win at the NDSU Spring Invitational. Boots would win the men's 800m, setting an MSUM best time of 1:52.17. For Boots, the mark ranks ninth all-time in MSUM history. The Big Lake, Minn., product's time was also an all-time personal best. 

Leaping Larson...Sophomore Allysah Larson continued her strong debut season in Moorhead at the NDSU Spring Invitational. Larson would pace the Dragons in the women's 100m sprint. Larson marked a 12.18 to place sixth overall. The time now sits as the eighth-fastest time in MSUM history. The Jamestown, N.D., native also secured a strong triple jump mark to open the outdoor season. Larson would place fourth with a personal best 38-11.5 (11.87m), now the third-best in MSUM history.

Jacobson Can't Slow Down...Sophomore thrower Justin Jacobson kicked off his outdoor season with strong marks in a pair of events. Jacobson would lead the Dragons in the hammer throw, finishing third with a personal best mark of 183-06 (55.93m). That throw is now the fourth-best in MSUM history. In men's discus, Jacobson would see another strong season debut, earning sixth-place marks. The sophomore had a top attempt of 162-09 (49.62m), which is now the fourth-best in program history.

Kranz Keeps Climbing...Junior thrower Kiley Kranz continued to move up MSUM's all-time shot put list at the NDSU Spring Invitational. Kranz tossed an outdoor personal best of 43-11.75 (13.40m) to place sixth overall. The mark moves Kranz to third all-time in program history. The Osakis, Minn., product also registered a new personal best in hammer throw as well, launching a 141-0 (42.98m).

Relays Shine...Moorhead had a pair of relay victories at the NDSU Spring Invitational in the 4x100m relay. The women's quartet of Audrey Janich, Cipriana Jones, Brihonne Cargill and Larson clocked a 47.41 for the victory, now the fourth-fastest in MSUM history. The men's squad of Austin Weite, Isaiah Tandoh, Frosty Wisnewski and Pemberton also won the event with a mark of 41.62. 

This Week's Breakdown...Much of the Dragon roster will be competing at the Dewey Donat Classic on Thursday. Moorhead will have Jared Gregoire, Colin O'Farrell and Chase Hoechst competing at the Bryan Clay Invitational, which begins Thursday as well. Gregoire will run in the 1500m on Saturday while O'Farrell will run in the 800m on Friday. Hoechst will compete in both the 5000m and 10,000m which will be contested on Thursday (10k) and Friday (5k). 

In The Ranks...Moorhead's women were slotted 23rd in the Central Region in this week's USTFCCCA index. The Dragon men were placed 24th in the region as well.
