JOPLIN, Mo. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead cross country teams each finished 21st at the Central Region Meet which was held on Saturday in Joplin, Mo.
Both Dragon teams finished with 523 points on the day. For almost every Dragon competing, it was her/his first time competing at an NCAA meet.
"This weekend was excellent experience for our women and men," MSUM head coach
Ryan Milner said. "We aspire to have both teams at the NCAA National Championships and the Regional Championships will be on this course for the foreseeable future."
Sophomore
Payton Lane led the Dragon women, taking 46
th in the 6K in 22:10.60. Sophomore
Hope Pringle was 84th in 22:57.74 while sophomore
Aislin Anderson was 85th in 22:58.09.
Freshman
Grace Dorsher was 126th in 23:28.37 while junior
McKenzie Maki was 182nd in 24:47.16. Freshman
Kenzie O'Connell was 217th in 26:55.45.
Adnew Stueven was the top finisher for the Dragon men, taking 94th in the 10K in 32:31.65. Sophomore
Braxton Bruer was 101st in 32:41.02 while sophomore
Connor Hayes was 110th in 32:50.73.
Senior
Drew Mears was 126
th in 33:11.13 while
Joseph Espinoza was 178th in 34:57.12. Freshman
Derek Hanson was 189
th in 35:52.02.
"Ten of our athletes ran lifetime-best PRs today," Milner said. "It's an excellent way for our distance squad to end the XC season and transition into track."
