MOORHEAD, Minn. – The final road trip of the season awaits the No. 20 Dragons of Minnesota State University Moorhead as two road duals are scheduled, including this Saturday at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minn.
The Dragons dropped their seventh dual of the season, all losses coming against nationally ranked opponents. The Dragons had an early lead on the Cobbers 9-6 but saw the lead vanish as the Cobbers ranked upper weights rattled off four straight wins to secure the win.
Redshirt junior
Corey Ulmer notched his sixth win in a row, and team-leading 18 of the season against the Cobbers' No. 7 ranked Ben Presler by a final of 6-3. Ulmer completing the open season with a 9-3, Ulmer has compiled a 9-1 dual season record. Since being voted the No. 6 ranked 125-pounder, Ulmer has won five straight, including a win over then No. 2 ranked Andy Forstner of Minnesota State Mankato.
Trent Sovde (174 pounds) made his return to the Dragons' lineup after missing the dual against St. Cloud State. 141-pounder
Brady Schneeberger is still out for the Dragons after taking a medical default against U-Mary on Jan. 19. Since taking over at 165 pounds,
Tyler Kivel has posted a 3-1 record and has a 7-5 mark on the season after defeating the Cobbers' Matt Jeska 6-4 on Wednesday.
After bouncing around at 149 pounds and 157 pounds,
Connor MacGregor has found his footing at 141 pounds, defeating the Cobbers' David Baker 9-4 and posting a 6-4 mark at 141. If Schneeberger does not start for the Dragons, expect MacGregor to get the nod.
