MSUM Ready for NSIC Cross Country Championships

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Minnesota State Moorhead cross country looks towards the NSIC Cross Country Championships this Friday in Wayne, Neb. Action from Wayne Country Club begins with the women's 6k race at 12 p.m. followed by the men's 8k run at 1:15 p.m.

Live video and results will be available at msumdragons.com. Moorhead has not competed since the Jimmie Invitational on October 3 which saw the Dragon men finish fourth and the women eighth. 

The men's 8k race would open action at the Jimmie Invitational with Jared Gregoire leading the Dragon pack. Gregoire would finish 13th overall behind a time of 25:23.3. Teammate Chase Hoechst would be not far behind Gregoire, earning a 16th place finish with a mark of 25:25.9. Gregoire and Hoechst's times are each new season best efforts. Salman Mohamed would finish within the top-25 for Moorhead, placing 24th with an 8k time of 25:50.9. 
 
James Dorado would pace a season-best 25:55.5 to finish two spots behind Mohamed and conclude the scoring for the Dragons. Janis Riekstins (26:18.4), Colin O'Farrell (26:37.5), Ivar Martell (26:41.8), Austin Dibble (26:59.4) and Lander Lahtinen (27:19.8) would also clock season bests for the Dragons. 
 
Luke Buentello would lead a strong contingent of personal bests for MSUM on Friday, marking a 26:34.8 for the new 8k best. Additionally, Will Massmann(27:08.6), Seth Meikle (27:10.9), Rory Richardson (27:46.1) and Eric Olson (28:10.1) would clock fresh personal bests. 
 
In the women's 6k race, Katelyn Kennedy would pace the Dragons behind a season-best effort of 23:50.8. Kaela Traugott (25:40.1) would also set a season-best in the 6k for Moorhead. Madison Kepner was mere seconds off her personal best, marking a season-best time of 25:57.7 to finish two places behind Traugott. Lezah Dean would improve on her personal best, clocking a finishing time of 26:48. Madilyn Albarado would do the same, completing the scoring contingent with a personal best mark of 27:57.5. True freshmen Eden Andres (28:07.3), Grace White (28:55.4) and Brooke Bollman (29:53) would all improve on their collegiate bests for the Dragons.
