BROOKINGS, S.D. – Minnesota State Moorhead track & field saw a host of top ten performances at the SDSU Indoor Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Dragon efforts were led by a new indoor mile record set by
Jared Gregoire (4:00.37).
Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
The women's 60m dash would see
Cipriana Jones improve on her personal best, clocking a 7.75 in the qualifying heats. Jones now moves into fifth all-time in MSUM history in the event.
Brihonne Cargill (7.92) would register another personal best in the same event as well. On the men's side,
Brandon Pemberton would place 10
th in the preliminary heats with a time of 6.91.
In the women's 400m,
Christalea Wagner (58.58) would pace the Dragons, placing 18
th.
Liv Birkeland (1:00.12) would secure another personal best in the same event. Jones would see another personal best effort in the 200m, clocking a 25.46 to place 12
th overall. That mark moves Jones into seventh all-time in Moorhead history. Pemberton would do the same on the men's side, marking a 21.54 for a new personal best. The time now stands as the second-fastest in program history.
Jumps/Vaults
Women's triple saw
Allysah Larson set another personal best for Moorhead. Larson finished fourth overall with a leap of 38-07.75 (11.78m). The mark is an NCAA provisional jump and is the second-best indoor triple jump in MSUM history.
Ahniesha Presulme (11.55m) would place seventh for the Dragons in the same event. Men's triple jump would see
Rollie Hanna place sixth behind a top attempt of 45-09.75 (13.96m).
Jaiden Peraza would win men's high jump once again on Saturday, clearing the 6-10.75 (2.10m) bar.
Jasiah Hambira (1.95m) would place eighth in the same event.
Hunter Petersen would lead MSUM's efforts in women's high jump, clearing 5-00.25 (1.53m) to place eighth.
Danica Felland (1.48m) would set a personal best in the same event.
Women's long jump would see Larson lead the Dragons with a leap of 18-01.5 (5.52m) to place sixth. The mark for Larson stands as the ninth-best in program history.
Throws
In women's shot put,
Kiley Kranz would place 10
th with a top mark of 41-08 (12.70m).
Hailey Neumann would collect another personal best of 41-04.5 (12.61m) to place 11
th. The throw for Neumann ties the 10
th-best in program history.
Men's shot put would see
Justin Jacobson capture another event win behind a throw of 55-04.25 (16.87m). Jacobson would also place fifth in weight throw competition with a toss of 57-0 (17.37m).
Distance
Friday's competition would see
Jared Gregoire capture an event win in the 800m behind a time of 1:51.79.
Colin O'Farrell would finish runner-up for the Dragons as well with a time of 1:52.05. In Friday's men's 3000m race,
Janis Riekstins would clock a personal best time of 8:40.46 to place 17
th amongst 91 competitors.
Seth Meikle (8:47.10) would also set a personal best in the same event.
Chase Hoechst would lead MSUM's efforts in Friday's 5000m run, placing fourth overall behind a mark of 14:46.43.
Lander Lahtinen (15:25.01) and
James Dorado (15:31.12) would set season bests in the same event.
In Saturday's mile run,
Katelyn Kennedy would set a new personal best of 5:22.18. On the men's side, it was Gregoire who dominated again, setting a new school record of 4:00.37 to win the event. The mark for Gregoire was a new meet record and smashed the MSUM record by nearly five seconds. Riekstins (4:18.94) would set a new personal best in the same event for MSUM.
O'Farrell would win the men's 1000m run on Saturday behind a personal best time of 2:28.50. The senior's time is the eight-fastest in MSUM history.
Jadon Boots (2:30.04) and
Rory Richardson (2:31.65) would each set new personal bests in the same event.
Brooke Bollman would clock a personal best in the women's 600m run, marking a 1:41.73.
