Dragons Wrap Up Regular Season at Cobber Open

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minnesota State Moorhead track & field competed in its final meet of the 2025-26 regular season on Saturday at the Cobber Open. 

Sprints/Hurdles/Relays

Nasir Dilworth would collect an event win in the men's 110m hurdles, clocking a 14.91. That mark ties Dilworth for the ninth-fastest time in MSUM history. In the women's 100m hurdle finals, Lucea Wales would place eighth with a time of 15.33. Hana Schutz would clock a personal best time of 1:09.64 in the women's 400m hurdles to place fifth. Evelyn Nydegger (1:15.61) would place eighth. 

Audrey Janich would see a ninth-place finish in the women's 100m dash preliminaries. Janich crossed the line at 12.66 for the finish. Austin Weite would guide the Dragon men in the same event, marking an 11.27 finals time for a seventh-place finish. 

Jadon Boots would hold MSUM's top 400m time on the men's side, clocking a personal best 50.57 to place fifth. Frosty Wisnewski (50.87) was right behind Boots, placing sixth. Liv Birkeland would see a third-place finish in the women's race at 1:00.28. 

To conclude the track events, the Dragon 4x400m team of Dylan Harris, Wisnewski, Rory Richardson and Boots would win the event with a time of 3:27.85. 

Jumps/Vaults

Hunter Petersen would claim third-place honors in women's high jump behind a clearance of 5-01.75 (1.57m). Leya Teicher would place fourth in women's pole vault, clearing the bar at 11-02.5 (3.42m). Katelyn Utecht (2.67m) would place 10th. Nicholas Huss would win men's pole vault, clearing 14-05.25 (4.40m), which is a new personal best. 

McKenna Schreiber earned fourth-place marks in women's long jump for the Dragons on Saturday. Schreiber traveled 17-10.75 (5.45m) for the finish while teammate Kaitlyn McConnell (5.37m) placed seventh. Weite would place fifth for the Dragon men with a leap of 21-0.5 (6.41m). 

Throws

Kiley Kranz continued to shine in women's shot put, marking an outdoor personal best of 45-02.25 (13.77m) to place fourth overall. Kranz's mark now ranks second all-time in MSUM history in the event. Justin Jacobson would also register a career effort on the men's side. Jacobson claimed runner-up marks with an outdoor personal best throw of 56-02.5 (17.13m). That mark is also the second-best in program history and expands on Jacobson's NCAA provisional mark. 

Jacobson would also collect runner-up marks in men's discus, hurling a 148-06 (45.27m). In men's javelin, Huss (40.04m) and Ethan Morin (36.05m) would place sixth and seventh respectively. 

True freshman Hailey Neumann would earn an event victory for the Dragons in women's javelin. Neumann logged a new personal best effort of 136-0 (41.45m) for the victory. That measures out as the fourth-best in MSUM history. Avah Cotton (34.66m) placed sixth in the same event. 

In men's hammer throw, Jack Stewart (48.59m), Landon Nicholas (46.30m) and Ben Nyreen (44.36m) would all register personal or season best marks. All three placed within the top ten as well. 

Distance

Kaela Traugott would lead MSUM's efforts in the women's 3000m steeplechase. Traugott clocked a 12:46.81 to place third overall. Eden Andres (13:27.99) would place sixth. Katelyn Kennedy would be MSUM's top finisher in the women's 1500m run. Kennedy ran a 4:46.77 for third-place marks while Emma Jamison (4:59.56) placed seventh with a personal best time.

On the men's side, Janis Riekstins would earn runner-up marks with a time of 4:02.66. Bridger Larson (4:03.64), Logan Martinez (4:03.91), Seth Meikle (4:05.25), Ivar Martell (4:07.11), James Dorado (4:07.93) and Luke Buentello (4:08.80) would all place in the top ten. Meikle, Martell and Buentello set personal best times. 

Kennedy would also lead the Dragons in the 800m run, placing eighth at 2:24.57. Lezah Dean (2:28.22) would place ninth. Richardson (1:56.10) would mark a season best in the men's race to place seventh. In the men's 5000m run, Hunter Haugen (16:01.53) and Eric Olson (16:47.43) would place fifth and eighth respectively.
