FARGO, N.D. -- Minnesota State Moorhead track & field saw exceptional performances across multiple events at the annual Bison Team Cup on Saturday. Numerous Dragons collected event wins at the North Dakota State-hosted meet.
Vaults/Jumps
Jaiden Peraza would lead the Dragon field efforts on Saturday, winning men's high jump with a leap over the bar at 6-11 (2.11m). For Peraza, the jump is an NCAA provisional effort and is currently the eighth-best high jump in Division II this season.
Jasiah Hambira would place runner-up, clearing 6-09 (2.06m), which is also an NCAA provisional showing. Tate Rassmussen would finish in a tie for third-place in the same event, going over at 6-03.25 (1.91m).
Tylah Pratt would finish fourth on the women's side, clearing 5-01 (1.55m).
McKenna Schreiber would be Moorhead's top finisher in women's long jump, placing seventh behind a top leap of 17-06.25 (5.34m).
Rollie Hanna would pace MSUM on the men's side, finishing third behind a jump of 22-06.25 (6.86m).
Aidan Fitts (6.38m) and
Owen Symanietz (6.20m) would place sixth and ninth respectively. In women's triple jump, a debuting
Ahniesha Presulme would collect runner-up mark with a leap of 38-0.75, which matches the fourth-best leap in program history.
Leya Teicher would be MSUM's top finisher in women's pole vault, placing fifth with a clearance of 10-10 (3.30m). Freshman
Ryen Ness would collect a new personal best, going over at 9-10 (3.00m). On the men's side,
Nicholas Huss would place third for the Dragons, clearing 13-07.25 (4.15m).
Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
Presulme would qualify for the women's 60m hurdle finals, clocking a 9.34 and would follow that up with a personal best 9.32 in the final heat for a fifth-place finish. The mark for Presulme is the 10th-fastest in program history.
Shavantae Roberts would dominate the women's 60m dash, winning both preliminary (7.58) and finals (7.59) action. The senior's preliminary mark ranks as an NCAA provisional performance.
Cipriana Jones placed third in the same event with a finals time of 7.85. On the men's side
Isaiah Tandoh (6.92) and
Brandon Pemberton (6.93) would each qualify for finals. Tandoh would win the finals heat behind a sprint of 6.83, now tied for the second-fastest in program history. Pemberton would finish runner-up in the same heat with an improved time of 6.91.
Pemberton would win the 200m dash, marking a 22.21, which is now the ninth-fastest in MSUM history. Tandoh would place third in the same race with a mark of 22.68 while
Aurek Zielinski earned sixth-place marks with a sprint of 23.48. Jones would lead the Dragons on the women's side, clocking a 26.20 for a fifth-place finish. In the women's 400m,
Christalea Wagner would grab second-place marks with a personal best time of 58.72 while
Liv Birkeland placed third with a time of 1:01.01. On the men's side,
Frosty Wisnewski would place third with a finishing time of 51.35.
To round out the meet, MSUM's 4x400m relay team of Wagner, Jones,
Brihonne Cargill and Birkeland would place runner-up with a time of 4:06.61. On the men's side, the quartet of Hambira, Fitts, Pemberton and Wisnewski would clock a 3:29.79 for runner-up marks.
Throws
Justin Jacobson would turn in another stellar outing for Moorhead in both shot put and weight throw. Jacobson tossed an NCAA provisional 56-0.5 (17.08m) to earn runner-up marks in shot put. The effort for Jacobson is a new personal best and is now the second-best indoor shot put in program history.
Logan Burns would register a new personal best in the same event, throwing a 40-0.75 (12.21m). Jacobson would also place second in weight throw, hurling a 56-01 (17.09m).
Landon Nicholas would earn a new collegiate best in weight throw, slinging a 48-0 (14.63m).
On the women's side,
Kiley Kranz would guide Moorhead behind a personal best weight throw effort. Kranz tossed a 48-08.75 (14.85m) for the new best and seventh-place marks. The throw is now the seventh-best in MSUM history. Kranz also saw 11th-place marks in shot put behind a top throw of 38-09.75 (11.83m) while
Avah Cotton set a new personal best at 38-04.75 (11.70m).
Distance
Jared Gregoire would begin his indoor season with an NCAA provisional performance in the 800m run. Gregoire paced a 1:51.84 to finish in second place with the mark being the seventh-best in Division II so far this season (converted time of 1:50.26).
Colin O'Farrell (1:55.50) and
Rory Richardson (1:56.48) would place third and fourth respectively. The Dragons also saw a personal best rom
Preston Miller (1:59.34) in the same event.
Moorhead would see a strong contingent in the men's 3000m run, which was won by
Chase Hoechst with a time of 8:42.30.
Seth Meikle (8:54.26),
Janis Riekstins (8:54.79) and
Luke Buentello (9:00.03) would all set personal bests, finishing second, third and fourth respectively. In the women's 3000m,
Katelyn Kennedy (11:13.10) and
Kaela Traugott (11:25.98) would place fourth and fifth respectively.
