GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Minnesota State Moorhead track & field saw a host of new top ten times as part of the UND Open on Saturday, The Dragons had event wins from
Jaiden Peraza (high jump),
Ahniesha Presulme (triple jump) and
Justin Jacobson (shot put).
Sprints/Hurldes/Relays
Ahniesha Presulme would set another personal best in the 60m hurdle preliminaries, marking a 9.23. The sprint serves as the eighth-fastest in MSUM history. In the women's 60m dash,
Allysah Larson would set a personal best of 7.79 which now stands as the sixth-best showing in program history. On the men's side,
Brandon Pemberton (6.93) and
Isaiah Tandoh (6.95) would qualify for the event finals. Tandoh would place sixth in the final heat behind a sprint of 6.98.
Christalea Wagner would guide the Dragon women in the 400m dash, marking a collegiate best time of 58.25. The mark for Wagner now sits as the eighth-fastest 400m in program history.
Liv Birkeland clocked a fresh personal best of 1:00.62 in the same event. On the men's side,
Frosty Wisnewski (50.31) and
Aidan Fitts (55.97) would set new personal bests.
In the women's 200m, freshman
Cipriana Jones would mark a season best 25.74, a time that is just outside the top ten in MSUM history.
Brihonne Cargill (26.08), Birkeland (26.83) and
Sydney Bailey (28.06) all collected personal bests in the same event. Pemberton would lead Moorhead on the men's side, marking a personal best 21.69 for a runner-up finish. The time for Pemberton now stands as the third-fastest in program history and narrowly missed NCAA provisional status.
To conclude the meet, Moorhead's 4x400m relay team of Wisnewski,
Jasiah Hambira,
Colin O'Farrell and
Jared Gregoire would place fourth behind a time of 3:20.37.
Jumps/Vaults
Presulme would see another strong effort in women's triple jump on Saturday. Presulme won the event behind a leap of 38-05.5 (11.72m) a new season best. The mark stands as the third-best indoor triple jump in MSUM history.
McKenna Schreiber would place ninth in women's long jump with a season best effort of 17-10.75 (5.45m).
Leya Teicher would lead the Dragon women in pole vault, clearing 10-11 (3.33m) for a sixth-place finish. On the men's side,
Noah Novotny and
Nicholas Huss would each clear 14-0 (4.27m) with Novotony finishing ahead of Huss with less failures. The sophomore finished sixth overall while Huss earned seventh-place marks.
Jaiden Peraza would win men's high jump behind a clearance of 6-09.5 (2.07m). Teammate
Jasiah Hambira would collect third-place marks after clearing 6-05 (1.96m).
Tate Rasmussen (1.91m) would place seventh in the same event.
Throws
Justin Jacobson would lead the Dragon men in weight throw, earning eighth-place marks with a top throw of 56-08.5 (17.28m). Jacobson would also improve in the shot put for the third straight week. The sophomore had a top toss of 56-10.25 (17.33m) which won him the event and set an indoor personal best. Jacobson's effort improves on his NCAA provisional mark while also improving the second-best throw in program history.
Distance
Jared Gregoire would pace the men's mile for Moorhead, clocking a 4:07.22 to place sixth overall. The time for Gregoire now stands as the second-fastest in program history. Gregoire hit an NCAA provisional time in the event with the mark now the 20
th-fastest in Division II this season.
Janis Riekstins would set a personal best time of 4:19.28 in the same event.
In the women's 600m run,
Brooke Bollman (1:43.28) and
Grace White (1:43.88) would finish second and third respectively. Each competitor set a new collegiate best in the event as well.
Rory Richardson would be MSUM's top finisher in the men's 800m, clocking a personal best time of 1:55.71.
Ivar Martell would win the men's 1000m run behind a time of 2:33.74 while teammate
Will Massmann finished runner-up at 2:39.17.
The Dragons had a healthy contingent of competitors in the 5000m run, led by a runner-up performance from
Seth Meikle. The sophomore marked a personal best 15:21.26 to earn the placement while
Luke Buentello also set a personal best (15:39.35) for a fifth-place finish.
Lander Lahtinen (15:41.56) and
James Dorado (15:51.96) would place sixth and eighth respectively for Moorhead.
Chase Hoechst would set a new personal best in the men's 3000m run, finishing runner-up with a time of 8:37.71. Riekstins (8:53.84) also set a new personal best, finishing seventh overall.
