JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Minnesota State Moorhead track & field concluded a busy week of competition at Saturday's Al Cassell Classic.
Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
Cipriana Jones would lead MSUM's efforts in the women's 200m, placing runner-up at 12.35.
Brihonne Cargill (12.55),
Christalea Wagner (12.74)
Chioma Onyeaghala (13.04),
Kaitlyn McConnell (13.11) and
Sydney Bailey (13.55) placed third through seventh in the same heat.
Austin Weite would place runner-up on the men's side with a sprint of 11.07.
Frosty Wisnewski was right behind Weite, placing third at 11.10.
Grady Hockstedler (11.32) and
Elkan Johnson (11.93) placed sixth and 10
th respectively.
Dylan Harris would claim victory in the men's 400m for the Dragons. Harris clocked a personal best time of 50.25 to earn the win.
Hana Schutz would win the women's 400m hurdles with a personal best of 1:10.57.
Evelyn Nydegger (1:12.30_ also marked a personal best, placing third.
Wagner would lead MSUM's efforts in the women's 200m, finishing runner-up at 26.08.
Liv Birkeland (26.74), Bailey (28.09) and
Ayden Ochs (28.41) placed third, fourth and fifth respectively. Wisnewski (22.40) and Hockstedler (23.28) would place third and sixth in the men's race.
Jumps/Vaults
Hunter Petersen continued her string of success on Saturday with a win in women's high jump. Petersen cleared 5-02.5 (1.59m) for the event win.
Danica Felland (1.49m) and
Tylah Pratt (1.44m) would place third and fourth respectively.
The Dragon women would see strong results in long jump, led by a personal best 17-06.25 (5.34m) from Onyeaghala. The true freshman placed runner-up while teammate McConnell set a new personal best of 17-04 (5.28m) to place third.
McKenna Schreiber would hold the same top mark to place fourth.
Leya Teicher would collect third-place marks for the Dragon women in pole vault. Teicher cleared 10-10.25 (3.31m) for the finish.
Throws
Justin Jacobson would continue his tremendous week with another win in men's hammer throw. Jacobson hurled a 178-04 (54.37m) for the victory.
Jack Stewart (46.42m),
Landon Nicholas (44.07m),
Logan Burns (42.0m) and
Ben Nyreen (41.69m) would all place in the top ten.
Kiley Kranz would place third for the Dragon women in the same event with a top toss of 145-07 (44.38m).
True freshman
Hailey Neumann would turn in another strong effort in women's javelin for the Dragons, finishing runner-up. Neumann checked in a new personal best 131-06 (40.08m) which is now the sixth-best in MSUM history. Jacobson would place third on the men's side with a throw of 162-08 (49.58m).
Jacobson would win men's discus with a toss of 149-04 (45.53m) while Stewart (36.53m) placed sixth. On the women's side,
Avah Cotton would mark a season best 119-06 (36.44m) to place fourth. Kranz (34.54m) and Neumann (34.48m) place sixth and seventh respectively.
Kranz would collect another event victory for the Dragons in shot put. The junior hurled a 42-0.75 (12.82m) to win. Neumann (12.17m) and Cotton (11.95m) placed fourth and fifth respectively. Jacobson would continue his slew of wins on the men's side, tossing a 54-03.75 (16.55m) to win. Burns (12.44m), Stewart (12.38m) and Nicholas (11.89m) would place sixth, seventh and eighth.
Distance
Lezah Dean would place fifth in the women's 800m with a personal best time of 2:28.
Chloe Sargent (2:28.91) would place sixth in the same race.
Hunter Haugen would finish runner-up in the men's 5000m with a personal best time of 16:01.
Eric Olson (16:07.96) would also set a personal best, placing third.
Emma Jamison would earn a spot in the all-time top ten of the women's 3000m steeplechase. Jamison placed runner-up with a time of 11:58.83, now the 10
th-fastest in MSUM history.
Kaela Traugott (12:17.23) and
Eden Andres (12:59.43) would place third and fourth in the same race.
