A native of Waterloo, IA. Bob was a four-year letter winner in wrestling & captain of the team as a senior in1973-74. A fixture in the Dragon lineup, he captured an NSIC title as a senior. Under his leadership as
Athletic Director at the University of Iowa, the Hawkeyes have served as a national leader in collegiate athletics, led by the 1997-98 NCAA champion wrestling team & post-season appearances by both the football & basketball teams. Bob is currently chair of the NCAA Olympic Sport Liaison Committee, a member of the NCAA/US Olympic Committee Task Force, on the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Board of Directors, chair of the Big Ten Championship & Awards Committee, & on the Executive Committee of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
