A Bemidji native and four-sport letter winner at North Dakota State University. Ross earned his MS degree at Moorhead State University and an Ed. D. degree at the University of North Dakota. He had a distinguished record during his 23 seasons as head football coach at Moorhead State. His teams posted a 152-80-4 record, nine conference championships, and seven trips to post season play. Ross served as men’s athletic director for twenty years and created both the NIC Metrodome Classic and the Snow Bowl. Ross was known for his leadership abilities, football knowledge, organizational and motivational skills, innovative instruction, concern for players and as a great teacher of football. Ross also served for 35 years in the Minnesota Army National Guard, retiring in 1995 as a Brigadier General.
