MSU Moorhead Athletics

A key member of the 1952 Minnesota State High School baseball championship team, Serum was a two-sport letterman at Moorhead State in baseball and basketball. During his tenure at MSUM, Serum turned down an offer to play for the New York Yankees to complete his degree as he was recognized as one of the top catchers in college baseball. He also started at guard for the Dragons on the basketball court for two seasons.
